I really recommend plumbots if you're planning to have a big and busy household. They are better than maids and better than butlers. It does take some time to get the skill to make them and the corresponding trait chips you want but it's worth it. Also if you have a bit of Lifetime Points in the Lifetime Rewards section you can purchase a Trait Chip Bundle which helps speed the process up. Plumbots only need a little maintenance and to recharge once in a while and so they're durable. They can do everything from the cooking to the cleaning to raising your children while you're at work.
In my Fennel-D'Avoure family I have the one plumbot, designed by the first child Anna, Ennadroid. She takes care of the cleaning, cooking and gardening and even helped with the development of the toddlers when Wyntr, the mother, went back to work. She also does most of the repairs when Thomas, the father, doesn't have the time and sometimes goes to the store when the children are at school. Her daily routine is usually make breakfast, make beds, clean up plates, do laundry and then tend the garden. She would wash the pets but they don't have a good enough relationship yet. Which is annoying.
Plumbots require maintenance but can also tune themselves up. They can take a while to recharge but this is easily done whilst the others sleep and with Trait Chips like 'Friendly Functions' they can even socialise with the family and further become a part of it.
To start on your path to create a plumbot you need to buy a Reventlov's Bot Workshop and develop your Bot Building skill. You do this by first designing many nanites. Once you reach level one you will be able to create a plumbot. Try to up your levels before building a plumbot as the higher your skill level the better quality of the pumbot you create. After that design trait chips and then work on creating the ones that you want.
Happy Simming!
